Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Supta hrday jágiyá ut́heche
Egiye caleche tava páne
Sab bandhan sab shrṋkhal
Chiṋŕe se caleche gáne gáne

Kona mohad́or báṋdhite náribe
Kona jaŕatá ná jaŕáte páribe
Sab mohad́or sakal jaŕatá
Chiṋŕe bheuṋge jáy[nb 2] tava páne

Práńete prabal bárańer pare
Lútátanturá kata bal dhare
Avahele táre asviikár kare
Cale se virát́er t́áne

Dormant heart, reviving, has arisen,
Has advanced in Your direction.
All the ties and all the fetters
Torn, she's gone on with song after song.

Any fiber of attachment blind shall not bind;
Any worldliness won't be able to entwine.
All unreal strings and all inertia,
Ripped asunder, she proceeds in Your direction.

Compared to the vigor of a mighty elephant,
How much power do the cobwebs have?
She disregards them as rejected;
She moves on, under pull of the Immense.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In the latest Bangla edition,[3] and in some Roman-script versions this word reads as jábo. However, in the audio rendition, this word is sung as jáy. While both words may be acceptable (and the meaning is similar), given the full context of the song and how it is sung, here we prefer the word as heard in the audio rendition.
