Máne ni

Máne ni, should it be মানিনি in Bengali (first person perspective, also joining মানি and নি, as after conjunction it becomes one word). --TitoDutta 20:51, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

Namaskar Titoji... good to hear from you. Thanks for your observation. The short answer for now is that I don't know... I will only have a final opinion in a few hours after completing my translation. But the Sargam and the 2nd Bengali Edition are in agreement that it is Máne and not Máni (in both the second and the third verse). In the Sargam, both versions of the lyrics (above the musical notation and within it) read Máne ni, although in the second verse above the lyrics we see Máneni. Of course, that does not prove anything... there are far too many mistakes and contradictions in the Bangla source to be 100% confident about anything. But under such circumstances, I start with an assumption that the Bangla is correct. Regarding conjunction, the 2nd Bengali Edition is inconsistent in respect to usage. Sometimes we see the ni conjoined to the main verb, but more often it is given as a separate word. So I remain confused as to what is best practice. For consistency, currently I always separate the ni. But, of course, I am open to learning any correct rule. --Abhidevananda (talk) 21:39, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
