FC2: Featured content 2 discussion

Planned date 13 November, 2013

  • 1 Featured article
  • 1 Featured list (replacing the Featured picture per accepted order)
  • Did you know

All other remain same.

Featured article suggestion

Suggest a featured article. The article should be long enough and complete enough.

Featured list suggestion

I am not sure how many featured lists we will have on SV, but it is conceivable that we could have quite a few: AMPS centers, Prabhat Samgiita songs, RAWA performances, AMURT offices, AMURT relief operations, Ananda Marga schools, and so on. So creating a section called "Featured list" makes sense to me, even if we may not feature a list each time we renew the main page. That said, the above list, as it stands, is still far from what I would consider to be featured-list quality. In other words, the article still needs a lot of work. I have made a few improvements, and I will also make some suggestions on the article's talk page. --Abhidevananda (talk) 12:48, 12 November 2013 (MST)

Discussion

On 2013 October 26, 152 bicycles were distributed for free to needy students in villages around Ananda Nagar (Purulia District, West Bengal, India). From left to right in the photo are (1) Ac. Vishvadevananda Avadhuta (Purodha Pramukha of AMPS), (2) Ac. Ramananda Avadhuta (Global AMURT Secretary), (3) Ac. Svarupananda Avadhuta (Mahasachiv, Secretary General, of Ananda Marga Gurukula), (4) student receiving a bicycle, (5) Shrii Bharat Goenka (Board member of AMURT Global).

My opinion is that dada Abhidevanandajii and Tito could easily decide the "Featured content 2" to insert. They have a full view of all articles, Tito particularly has a great experience on WP and he can judge an article from the technical and encyclopedical point of view.--Ananta (talk) 00:33, 11 November 2013 (MST)

  • Full view? Are you facing trouble to view any article? TitoDutta 14:27, 11 November 2013 (MST)
    • It is a diplomatical way of saying. It means exactly: I have no time enough now to read all the articles and to have the "full view" required to suggest a featured article :).

My opinion is that the planned date for renewing the featured information on our main page is unrealistic. We need to push this back for at least a week if we are to have any chance of presenting some high-quality variety in terms of featured material. As a temporary measure, I would however endorse the swapping of the current featured picture for a similar picture with different content, specifically, the one on the right. And, lest anyone point out the obvious, I know that this picture is not ideal. The picture may, however, be of interest to many as the person appearing at the far left is the current Purodha Pramukha of AMPS, rarely photographed taking part in a service project. --Abhidevananda (talk) 13:40, 12 November 2013 (MST)

  • The picture is nice.. my opinion is (but I don't know if it's possible from the technical point of view) that to have different images that follow each other every one week with an automatic routine could give the site a dynamic effect that will result in an increased sense of innovation.--Ananta (talk) 08:47, 14 November 2013 (MST)
