Ket́e geche kata jiivan
Tathápi kona áshári
Hay niko sampúrań

Tárá keu áse niko
Járá chilo mana májhe
Jáder kabhu cáhi niko
Tárá ese bhiiŕ kareche
Jata chilo bhálabásá
Madhumákhá jáoyá ásá
Tárá sabi geche cale
Rekhe káleri vyavadhán

Phulera bágáne giye
Káṋt́á phut́echilo páye
Malaya madhura váte
Dekhechinu ghúrńiváye
Bujhiyáchi áshá mama
Mrgatrśńiká sama
Hatásher sheś áshá
Tomár dut́i rátul carań

আশা আশা করে
কেটে গেছে কত জীবন
তথাপি কোন আশারই
হয় নিকো সম্পূরণ

তারা কেউ আসে নিকো
যারা ছিলো মন মাঝে
যাদের কভু চাহি নিকো
তারা এসে ভীড় করেছে
যত ছিলো ভালবাসা
মধুমাখা যাওয়া আসা
তারা সবই গেছে চলে
রেখে কালেরই ব্যবধান

ফুলের বাগানে গিয়ে
কাঁটা ফুটেছিলো পায়ে
মলয় মধুর বাতে
দেখেছিনু ঘূরণিবায়ে
বুঝিয়াছি আশা মম
মৃগতৃষ্ণিকা সম
হতাশের শেষ আশা
তোমার দুটি রাতুল চরণ

In expectations,
So many lives transpired.
Yet, of those expectations,
None are fulfilled.

They did not happen–
Those that were in my mind.
Those that I never wanted–
They came in abundance.
Whenever love occurred,
It was honey-coated comings and goings,
Always departing,
Gratifying only for a span of time.

Touring the flower garden,
Thorns arose at each step.
In the gentle southern breeze,
I met with a cyclone.
I've now realized that my expectations
Are like a mirage;
The disappointments at the end of hope
Are Your two rosy feet.
