Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

(Erá) Kánnáy bháuṋgá rudhirete ráuṋá
Hatásháy bháuṋgá sabahárá (erá)
(Eder) Neiko drpti neiko púrtti
Neiko diipti dishehárá

(Eder) Calo niye jái álokasnánete
Basáiyá dii saphala mánete
Sab apúrtti dúr kare dii
Mamatár d́áke hrdi bhará

Eker vedaná sabár vedaná
Sabákár ei vasudhará

Broken and weeping are the downtrodden,[nb 2]
Crushed by despair and absolutely ruined.
They've no self-esteem or satisfaction,
Nothing bright, absent direction.

Come, let's bring them to the bath of light,
Let's satisfy their desires.
All deprivation let us banish,
Having called lovingly, our hearts abrim.

One person's grief is our collective suffering;
This rich Earth belongs to everybody.

Purport

This is how Sarkar himself described the meaning of the song—[4]

Those downtrodden people, whose lives are filled with weeping, who have no aspirations, whose existences have no charm of vitality – let us guide them on the path of light. Let us educate them. Let us fulfill their demands and their needs. Let us restore their lost dignity. With our hearts overflowing with love, let the sufferings of each be shared by all, for this world belongs to us all.
