The Excellence of a Bhakta is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti on 1978 September 10 in Patna, India. This discourse is the second chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 2.[1]

Synopsis

Your fundamental basis should be prapatti. “Everything happens as per His desire, and not a single blade of grass can move without His permission”. By the Grace of, by the compassion of, Parama Puruśa, you have received the ápta vákya guidelines, and it is your duty to adhere strictly to the teachings and gospel of ápta vákya. A jiṋánii has no future.

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by explaining the word prapatti - nothing can be done without the will of Parama Purusa. He then says that devotees, because of their loving relationship with the Lord, know that human endeavor is insignificant. Everything happens only according to His desire. Intellectuals rely on bookish knowledge and fail to understand that. Anandamurti goes on explaining the difference between mundane, unreliable knowledge and supreme knowledge coming from the Lord.[1]
