Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Udásii hiyáte kájalá ráte
Kena je eman kare
Stabdha prahare báre báre
Práń cáhe ajánáre

Kotháy ácho tumi lukáye ácho tumi
Khuṋjiyá beŕái saptabhúmi
Vedanáte bhará ashrujhará
Man pete cáy tomáre

Álora párávár áṋdhára páṋkár
Tannatanna kari khuṋji je cáridhára
Rayecho tumi bujhi go ámi
Dharite náhi pári manane ámár

Práńera priyatama antaratama
Lukocuri khelá kena sáthe mama
Sumukhe ásiyá dáṋŕáo hásiyá
Vyathára ságarpáre

With stoic mind on pitch-dark nights,
Why does it happen to be…
Oft and again, when time stands still,
My soul longs for the unrevealed.

Where are You; where do You stay hidden?
I am searching through the seven worlds.[nb 2]
Deeply afflicted, tears flowing,
My heart yearns to find Thee.

The ocean of light, the mire of gloom—
Thoroughly I seek in every direction.
You've remained, that I assume;
But I can't hold You in apperception.

Nearest and dearest of my life,
Why this game of hide-and-seek with me,
Coming and standing in front with a smile,
Beyond the sea of suffering?

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In Tantric theory, the cosmic mind (more or less the universe) consists of seven realms or worlds: bhú (physical world), bhuvah (crude mental world), svah (subtle mental world), mahah (supra-mental world), janah (subliminal world), tapah (penultimate world), and satya (causal world).[3]
