Today, with moist breeze,
Today neath a rainy wind, at an hour chaste and modest,
during shy period of time,
Only to obtain Him hankers the psyche...
the mind wants to find him only.
Neath a rainy wind.
the eyes could be checked,
Even though eyes be restrained, mind does not pay heed;
but the mind does not listen,
Toward Him it proceeds repeatedly.
again and again it turns towards him.

Howsoever i determine that
Much as I believe: about Him I'll no longer think,
i shall no more think of him,
I see that He has owned the psyche.
i find that he controls the more and more.
After forgetting Him, forgetting His existence,
by forgetting his existence,
Surviving has become such great difficulty.
i cannot survive, what a condition?

if this is the condition of anyone,
In this same state if some of you should be,
pull him close to you timely.
To stay for a while, please pull Him near.
i was mistaken in keeping him far,
A mistake I am making, I am keeping at a distance;
now I find there is no way out.
Now I see there is no means.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

(Áji) Sajala samiire salája prahare
Táre shudhu mana pete cáy
Sajala samiire
Áṋkhi mánileo mana je máne ná
Tár páne báre báre jáy

Jata bhávi táre bhávibo ná ár
Dekhi se kareche mana adhikár
Bhule giye táke astitvake
Báṋcáno hayeche e kii dáy

Ei avasthá jadi káro hay
Táre káche t́eno thákite samay
Bhul kariyáchi dúre rákhiyáchi
Ekhana dekhi ná kona upáy

Today neath a rainy wind, at an hour chaste and modest,
Only to obtain Him hankers the psyche...
Neath a rainy wind.
Even though eyes be restrained, mind does not pay heed;
Toward Him it proceeds repeatedly.

Much as I believe: about Him I'll no longer think,
I see that He has owned the psyche.
After forgetting Him, forgetting His existence,
Surviving has become such great difficulty.

In this same state if some of you should be,
To stay for a while, please pull Him near.
A mistake I am making, I am keeping at a distance;
Now I see there is no means.
