This lyre of my mind has lost its rhythm.
The lyre of my mind is passive;
It produces music, only if He plays it.
It resonates only when He plays it.
Merging one's melody in His melody,
In harmony with His melody,
One will have to play the instrument.
The lyre must be played.

In all expression, He smiles.
In all expression, He smiles.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ámár e manoviińá chandahiiná
Bájibe shudhu se yadi bájáy
Táhári surete sur miliye diye
Bájáte habe viińáy

Sakal bhávete se shudhu háse
Basáte gele base ná páshe
Hiyára hási kothá jáy bhási
Kon videshe se je go háráy

Áṋkhi páne cáy dhará náhi dey
Nece cale jáy surera máyáy

The lyre of my mind is passive;
It resonates only when He plays it.
In harmony with His melody,
The lyre must be played.

In all expression, He smiles.
He persistently refuses to sit beside me.
The smiles of my heart drift away
Towards an unknown, faraway land.

He looks into my eyes, eluding my grasp.
He goes away, dancing to the magic of melody.
