Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Ámi tomáy cini ná
Cinite cáhi ná
Ámi tomár tumio ámár
Er beshii kichu jáni ná
Jáni ná jáni ná jáni ná

Nidágher tápe shiital cháyá
Dahan jváláy candan máyá
Tomáte trpta sab cáoyá páoyá
Er beshii kichu bujhi ná

Shiite jaŕatár kuheliká pare
Áno madhumás smita núpure
Phule phale rase man dáo bhare
Tomár náhiko tulaná

Recognize You I do not,
To recognize You, I want not.
I am Yours, and You are mine;
More than that, I know not;
I know not, I know not, I know not.

A cooling shadow neath the heat of summer;
Under blazing flames, the nature of sandalwood.[nb 2]
Within You all desire-and-attainment is satisfied;
More than that I fathom not.

After the winter, after fog of inertia,
Months of spring You bring, on smiling anklets.
With bloom and fruit and juice, You fill the mind
There is not Your likeness!

  2. ^ In addition to its pleasing fragrance, the oil, paste, and powder of sandalwood are deemed to have a cooling and soothing property.
