At darkest night You came,
At darkest night You came,
Bearing the splendor of effulgence.
Bearing the splendor of effulgence.
In my desert heart You made a sweet,
In my desert heart You made a delightful,
Cooling stream flow.
Cooling stream flow.

You washed them away.
You washed them away.

A tremor went through the sky and through the earth.
Then a tremor rose through earth and sky;
It stirred the rhythm of everyone's heart.
In every heart was that drive.
You dissolved my entire ego
All my ego mingled with dust,
and shed drops of nectar on me.
Generating motes of ambrosia.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áṋdhár nishiithe tumi esechile
Álokera chat́á sáthe niye
(Ámár) Maru hrdimájhe diyechile svádu
Sushiitala saritá baháye

Tumi esechile niirava prahare
Mandamadhura snigdha samiire
(Ámár) Sab kśudratá sakala diinatá
Diyechile sudúre bhásáye

(Takhan) Ákásh dharańii keṋpe ut́hechilo
Sakal hiyár chanda je chilo
(Ámár) Sab ahamiká dhúláy misháye
Amrtera kańá diye diye

At darkest night You came,
Bearing the splendor of effulgence.
In my desert heart You made a delightful,
Cooling stream flow.

You came in the silent hours
On a sweet and gentle, tender breeze.
All my pettiness and all my wretchedness,
You washed them away.

Then a tremor rose through earth and sky;
In every heart was that drive.
All my ego mingled with dust,
Generating motes of ambrosia.
