When the formless came down to form,

When into form the Formless One had entered,
could anyone else saw that?

Was there any other who had viewed that event?
within the imagination, all were awake,

From imagination everything had awakened,
dancing in the ocean of effulgence.

Gamboled had the ocean of effulgence.
why did you imagine,

in that determination what did you think?
+
Why had You invented, why had You devised?
deluding through that will

What had You been thinking by way of this desire?
of overwhelming illusion (liila'),

Through stratagem of longing, surge of [[:wikipedia:Lila (Hinduism)|sport divine]],
what new ankle bell did you sound?
+
Novel anklets, had they sounded?
after that how many eras passed,

there is no record of that in the history.

Afterwards, how many ages have gone by?
within the resonance of rhythm and thoughts,

In history's annals, that is not inscribed.
remained what the supreme great purus'a intended.

With cadence and shape, in jingle it's survived;

This the Omnipresent God had wanted.

Arup jakhan rupe esechilo is the 2408th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Arúp jakhan rúpe esechilo
Ár keu ki tá dekhechilo
Kalpaná theke sabi jegechilo
Álor ságar necechilo

Kalpaná tumi kena karechile
E sauṋkalpe kii bhevechile
Eśańár chale liilá ucchale
Nava[nb 2] núpur ki bejechilo

Tárpar kata jug cale geche
Itiháse táhá lekhá náhi áche
Chande o bháve rańane rayeche
Virát́ puruś e ceyechilo

When into form the Formless One had entered,
Was there any other who had viewed that event?
From imagination everything had awakened,
Gamboled had the ocean of effulgence.

Why had You invented, why had You devised?
What had You been thinking by way of this desire?
Through stratagem of longing, surge of sport divine,
Novel anklets, had they sounded?

Afterwards, how many ages have gone by?
In history's annals, that is not inscribed.
With cadence and shape, in jingle it's survived;
This the Omnipresent God had wanted.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Though the Second Bengali Edition[2] reads Tava, the Sargam consistently reads Nava. In this instance, the Second Bengali Edition is clearly in error.
