For whose sake do You count the days?
For whose sake do You count the days?
Why, with respect to ones who won't remain,
Why, with respect to ones who won't remain,
Do You weave a web of sensory impressions?
Do You weave a cobweb of sensations?

By Your divine power, the forms in this universe
By Your divine power, the forms in this universe
Go on meeting and merging in a state beyond all form.
Go on meeting and merging in a state beyond all form.
Why then, by creating forms, by the cosmic play,
Why then, by creating forms, by this cosmic play,
Do You indulge the ephemeral for no gain at all?
Do You indulge the ephemeral for no net gain at all?

I know that the formation of Creation is not in vain
I know that the formation of Creation is not for naught
And that Your mental projections are not permanent.
And that Your mental projections aren't perpetual.
I know that they are all a passing show,
I know that they are all a passing show;
But why do You fascinate mind with such attractions?
Still, why fascinate our minds with such attractions?

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Arúpa devatá rúpera deule
Kár lági tumi tithi gońo
Jáhá thákibe ná táhá niye kena
Saḿvedane jál bono (tumi)

Rúper ei dhará tava mahimáy
Rúpátiite miliyá mishiyá jáy
Tabe kena liiláy rúpa racanáy
Máto játe náhi lábh kono

Jáni miche nay srśt́i racaná
Stháyiio nahe go ei kalpaná
Cale calá chavi bujhi tárá sabi
Tabu kena mane moha áno

Formless Lord in a temple of forms,
For whose sake do You count the days?
Why, with respect to ones who won't remain,
Do You weave a cobweb of sensations?

By Your divine power, the forms in this universe
Go on meeting and merging in a state beyond all form.
Why then, by creating forms, by this cosmic play,
Do You indulge the ephemeral for no net gain at all?

I know that the formation of Creation is not for naught
And that Your mental projections aren't perpetual.
I know that they are all a passing show;
Still, why fascinate our minds with such attractions?
