Those that I never wanted;
Those that I never wanted;
They came in abundance.
They came in abundance.
Whenever love occurred
Whenever love occurred,
It was honey-coated comings and goings.
It was honey-coated comings and goings,
It always went away,
Always leaving,
Satisfying for only a span of time.
Satisfying only for a span of time.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áshá áshá kare
Ket́e geche kata jiivan
Tathápi kona áshári
Hay niko sampúrań

Tárá keu áse niko
Járá chilo mana májhe
Jáder kabhu cáhi niko
Tárá ese bhiiŕ kareche
Jata chilo bhálabásá
Madhumákhá jáoyá ásá
Tárá sabi geche cale
Rekhe káleri vyavadhán

Phúlera bágáne giye
Káṋt́á phut́echilo páye
Malaya madhura váte
Dekhechinu ghúrńiváye
Bujhiyáchi áshá mama
Mrgatrśńiká sama
Hatásher sheś áshá
Tomár dut́i rátul carań

My expectations accumulate
Over so many lives passed.
Yet, of those expectations,
None are fulfilled.

They did not happen—
Those that were in my mind.
Those that I never wanted;
They came in abundance.
Whenever love occurred,
It was honey-coated comings and goings,
Always leaving,
Satisfying only for a span of time.

While walking in the flower garden,
thorns pricked my feet.
In the whirl wind,
I savoured/sensed a sweet southern breeze.
My hopes are illusive mirages.
Only your two rosy feet remain
as the last refuge
of my despondent heart.
