Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Áshá niye patha ceye
Base áchi diváráti
Nibunibu diipáloke
Bhará buke niti niti

Tumi cháŕá ke bá balo
Básite jáne go bhálo
Tumi je dharár álo
Tái je shońái marmagiiti

Tumi ná ásile priya
Ekathá jániya nio
Bháuṋgá áshá bháuṋgá buke
Báŕábe ná tava khyáti
Jadio máno ná tumi
Káro mukher nindá stuti

Your coming, expectantly anticipating,
I've been waiting night and day.
Though the lamplight is now fading,
My bosom brims forever and always.

Pray tell, other than You does anyone
Understand how to transmit love?
You are the luster of the world,
And so to Thee this heartsong I sing.

Beloved, should You not arrive,
Then kindly bear one thing in mind:
Crushed be the hope in a broken heart.
Your fame won't be enhanced by that,
Even if no heed You pay
To any voiced censure or praise.
