Bakul tarur chaye is the 1594th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Bakul tarur cháye
Ke go ele
Phul bicháye

Kao ni kathá káro sane
Chile sońár siḿhásane
Vasanteri rauṋer gáne
Man bhariye

Emant́i ár pávo kotháy
Báhir bhitar ráuṋiye dey
Maner końe tulir t́áne
Madhu mákhiye

Neath the shade of bakul tree,[nb 2]
Oh Who art Thou that appeared,
Flowers scattering?

Not a word You spoke with anybody;
On a golden throne You had been,
With sweet notes in hues of spring,
Suffusing psyche.

Is there anywhere that I will find a peer,
Who makes colored both the sides, out and in,
With brush-stroke on mental cranny,
The spring having smeared?

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In addition to the Bakul blossoms being deemed a harbinger of spring in India, there are also connections to Krsna. In Krsna's youth, he is said to have played his flute under a bakul tree.
