Bakula gandhe madhuranande is the 45th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Bakula gandhe madhuránande
(Se je) Madhupa chande esechilo

Sheśer pareo shuru haye tháke
Sheś nái táhá balechilo

Jiivaner dhárá asheś apár
Marumájhe hárá hay ná calár
Tomár gatite tomár drutite
Tomár shrote se calechilo

Sab vedanár sakal bádhár
(Se je) Laohakapát́ bheuṋgechilo

With sweet bliss and the fragrance of bakula flowers,[nb 2]
He came in the rhythm of a honeybee.

"Beyond the end there is a beginning—
The end is not so", He said.

The stream of life is unending and interminable.
Even in a desert the stream is not lost.
In Your momentum, in Your speed,
In Your current, it flows on.

All afflictions and all obstacles—
These iron gates are shattered.

Purport

This is how Sarkar himself described the meaning of the song—[3]

The Lord came with the fragrance of the bakula flower and with a wave of sweetness, with the rhythm of the honeybee. In His eternal movement there cannot be any full stop. When we say this is the last point, then we see that it starts once again. A river may dry up amidst the desert, but the flow of life will not dry up, even amidst the desert of obstacles. O Paramapuruśa, when You are with me, no obstacle can stand before me as insurmountable. Even iron gates will crumble to pieces when Your grace is with me. O Lord, stay with me.

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ The mimusops elengi tree is found in South and Southeast Asia as well as Northern Australia. Its flowers have a light fragrance that persists after the flowers are dried. In India, these flowers are used to make ornamental garlands for ceremonial worship of deities.
