Beyond the Periphery is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti. This discourse is the 37^th chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 1.^[1] For other discourses with the same or similar title, see Beyond the Periphery.

Synopsis

The meaning or inner spirit of this form of symbolization is that when we call Him "Parama Puruśa" we say, "O Parama Purusaa, we call You that in order to express our inability to symbolize You." Therefore to know Him you have to go beyond the periphery of your whole relative structure and finally attain unity with Him. This alone will be the supreme expression of all human sádhaná.

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti begins this discourse reminding that the path of spirituality is beyond the scope of symbolization. Human mind cannot imagine the supra-mental or supra-psychic existence of Parama Purusa. Human mind and the motor and the sensory organs fail to express certain psychic feelings, so it is not possible for the mind express or symbolize the Supreme Self. Although it is impossible, we call the supra-psychic-existential entity Parama Purusa. This is also a kind of a symbolization.^[1]
