Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Calamán ei dharitriite
(Járá esechilo) Tárá cale geche
Táder carań cihna rayeche
Dhúlira pare ár mana májhe

Kichui vyartha nay ei dharańiir
Mukher hási ár vyathár áṋkhiniir
Duye niye dhárá bay jiivana nadir
Kabhu marumájhe kabhu rúperi sáje

Járá cale geche áche tomára práńe
Tomáre ghire náce mukta mane
Tumi lokáshray bhávátiita vismay
Sabár marme tava mádhuri báje

On this earth, ever in motion,
Those who'd come, they have gone.
But their footprints have persisted,
Dust upon and mind amid.

On this earth not a thing is fruitless,
A smile of face and a tear of distress.
With those two, Earth plies a river's existence,
At times mid a desert, at times in form's garment.

Those who've left, in Your life they are present;
Around You they dance with a mind liberated.
You're the people's shelter, a marvel transcendent;
Your sweetness rings out at everyone's core.

Currently, only the following audio rendition is available; however, there are several discrepancies with the originally published version (the Sargam). It should be noted that there are also several discrepancies between the originally published version (Bengali) and the later published versions (both Bengali and Roman script); however, there is no clear necessity for any alteration of the original version or any evidence that these changes were mandated by the composer.
