Káṋde ánkhi man práńa majjá
E kii kare dile

Nabher cáṋder mor kona káj nái
Cidákásher cáṋde káche pete cái
Mathita bhávaná niye gán geye jái

চাঁদের আলো লাগে না ভালো
প্রিয় তুমি না এলে
মুকুতা-তাজের সাজে মীনের কী কাজ
নীড় না পেলে

আজি মোর সজ্জা যে কণ্টক-শয্যা
লাস্যে মিশিয়া আছে লজ্জা
কাঁদে আঁখি মন-প্রাণ-মজ্জা
এ কী করে' দিলে

নভের চাঁদের মোর কোন কাজ নাই
চিদাকাশের চাঁদে কাছে পেতে চাই
মথিত ভাবনা নিয়ে গান গেয়ে যাই
সুরে ছন্দে তালে

hence i have no more liking for this moonlight.
what is the purpose of decorating a fish
with pearlcrown if it does not find the nest?
today my adornment is a bed of thorn.
in the gesture, shyness is mixed.
all my eyes, mind and vitality and marrow cry.
what have you done, you did not come, o dear.
i have no purpose with the moon in the sky.
i want the moon of my firmament of mind,
close to me. with churned feelings,
i go on singing the song with rhythm,
melody and beats.
