Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Divya dyutite prajiṋári rathe[nb 2]
Ke esecha tumi ogo krpámay
Mrdul áveshe mandril ákáshe
Shuńe cali tava váńii varábhay

Dúr bá nikat́ náhika tomár
Sabai samán sabe ápanár
Madhur hásite mohan báṋshiite
D́ák diye jáo sadá sudhámay

Aharnishi jege ácha tumi
Shiyare rayecha antarjámii
Tava anukampá jáci ámi
Jáni se karuńá pába nishcay

With radiance divine on the chariot of wisdom,
Who are You that's come, oh Gracious One!
With tender rapt-attention, in reverberating heavens
Having heard Your varábhaya[nb 3] message, I go onward.

To You nothing is remote or close;
All are alike, everyone Your own.
With smile sweet and flute enchanting,
Having called, ever pleasing You proceed.

You are attentive day and night;
By my head You've stayed, 'ware of my mind.
Your kind compassion I beseech,
Knowing I will surely gain that mercy.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Some Roman-script sources show pathe (on the path) as opposed to rathe (on the chariot). Here, the Bangla source is preferred.[2]
  3. ^ A specific blessing that confers the granting of boons and the sense of fearlessness.
