Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Dúr niilimáy hátcháni dey
Sudúrer kon bandhu ámáy
Bale se je more kena ácho dúre
Eso eso mor áuṋináy

Sájáye rekhechi táráder málá
Kata rauṋe rúpe kata liilákhelá
Áṋkhi mele dekho baddha gharete
Ácho kata kleshe kata játanáy

Nútaner d́ák sadá diye jáy
Cira nútaner shudhu gán gáy
Kán pete shuni bandhu ámáy
Kata ráginiite gán je shonáy

He beckons from blue yonder,
Far away from me, an abiding friend.
He tells me: "Why are you afar...
Come, please come, to My courtyard.

"I've kept it bedecked with strings of stars,
With countless colorful forms and fond games.
Open your eyes and see behind closed doors,
You have so many sorrows and so many pains."

Constantly He gives the call to novelty;
He sings only of new and newer.
When I listen closely to my Friend,
Many a melodious song is heard.
