I set aside all child's play.
I set aside all child's play.

As a moth flies towards the flame,
The moth races toward a lamp,
Not knowing it rushes into the face of death,
Not knowing she flies to the face of death.
Similarly, abandoning spirit for matter is death
Forgetting soul to run after matter—
I have now understood this fact.
It is death, I have realized that.

I shall henceforth rush towards You,
I shall henceforth rush towards You,

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Gáner jagat káche peyechi
Purono jiivan bhule giyechi
Tomáke peyechi sab peyechi
Sab chelekhelá cheŕe diyechi

Patauṋga dháy pradiipera dike
Jánená se chot́e marańer mukhe
Cetanke bhule jaŕ niye tháká
Marań je táhá bujhe niyechi

Chut́iyá caliba tomára pánete
Mátiyá thákiba tomári gánete
Sakal cáoyár sakal páoyár
Sheś kathá tumi sár jenechi

I have come to the world of music.
My old life is forgotten.
Attaining You, I have attained everything.
I set aside all child's play.

The moth races toward a lamp,
Not knowing she flies to the face of death.
Forgetting soul to run after matter—
It is death, I have realized that.

I shall henceforth rush towards You,
Singing only songs of You.
You are the end of all desires and attainments.
This essence I have come to realise.
