Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Jár asmitá sheś haye geche
Se tomáre páy hrdi bhare
Tár sab kichu niye je niyecha
Sab kichu tava dán kare

Andha káráy se tomáre dekhe
Sandhyátáráy tava priiti mákhe
Aruńa prabháte sonálii álote
Tava rúpe ráge snán kare

Kona vibhiiśiká náhi tár káche
Priiti madhurimá shudhu giiti áche
Práń bhará rddhi raye geche
Madhuparker sudhásáre

One whose vanity has ceased
He gains You wholeheartedly.
With everything of his You've seized,
He makes it all Your offering.

In a prison gloomy, it's You he perceives;
On evening's stars, Your love he smears.
With golden light at crimson morning,
In Your form and color he is bathing.

By his side nothing is frightening;
Loving kindness is the one song there.
Lively and broad prosperity is abiding
With ambrosia's essence, honey-sweet.[nb 2]

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ This final line vividly calls to mind the Madhuparka ritual at a ceremonial Hindu wedding.
