Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kár tare tumi base base káṋda
Kár patha páne ceye theke
Ke se citacor tandrár ghor
Ásite dila ná tava cokhe

Mańipadmer koraker májhe
Káhár mádhurii smita mukhe ráje
Ke se anivár áshásambhár
Bhariyá diyáche tava buke

Kata kál ket́e geche ei bháve
Áro kata din e bhávei jábe
Kál gańanár tithi bhávivár
Kona rekhá nei tava mukhe

Ever waiting, for Whom do you weep?
Toward Whose path do you keep gazing?
Who is He, the Mind-Thief? Darkness of being drowsy
In your eyes He did not let it appear.

At the core of muladhara's[nb 2] budding lotus
Prevails with a smiling face Whose sweetness?
Who is He? Constantly hope's ingredients
In your bosom He's been cramming.

How much time has passed in this same state;
How many more days will go the same way?
The time of reckoning, the day of resolution...
On your visage there's no sign of it.

  2. ^ One of many names for the múládhára cakra is mańipadma. In tantra, it is the lowermost plexus and the seat of sleeping divinity.
