Ke ele áji ke ele
Tumi vishvadoláy dol diye ele

Bhávaloke chile niice neve ele
Dharár dharáchoṋyáy mishiye gele

Sudúrer tárá kácht́ite ele
Sudúrer rág man mátále

Háráno dhvani tumi káne bhese ele
Háráno chanda nác náciye dile

Ashrubhará áṋkhi muchiye dile
Ságarer mańi tumi práń juŕále

কে এলে আজি কে এলে
তুমি বিশ্বদোলায় দোল দিয়ে এলে

ভাবলোকে ছিলে নীচে নেবে এলে
ধরার ধরাছোঁয়ায় মিশিয়ে গেলে

সুদূরের তারা কাছটিতে এলে
সুদূরের রাগ মন মাতালে

হারানো ধ্বনি তুমি কানে ভেসে এলে
হারানো ছন্দ নাচ নাচিয়ে দিলে

অশ্রুভরা আঁখি মুছিয়ে দিলে
সাগরের মণি তুমি প্রাণ জুড়ালে

You came and rocked the cradle of the universe.

You were in the realm of thought, but You came down
And mingled, accepting earth's embrace.

My distant divine mother,[nb 2] You have come so near that
A faraway melody has enthralled my mind.

You are the lost notes that came floating into my ears;
You are the lost rhythm that made me dance.

Wiping away the tears that filled my eyes,
You are the jewel of the sea that soothes my spirit.

  2. ^ Tárá (তারা) is a name for the goddess Durga (দুর্গা), a female deity in the Hindu tantric tradition, who allegedly kills demons and brings both victory and prosperity. Here the author, who did not endorse religion or religious deities, is no doubt using this concept in a figurative sense.
