Utsárite cái

Ke par ke ápan bujhi ná
Mánavatá májhe bhed máni ná

কিশলয় আমি মর্মে মর্মে
নূতনের গান গাই
কুবলয় আমি আঁধার নর্মে
রক্তিম ঊষারে ডেকে’ যাই

উচ্ছল আমি প্রাণতরঙ্গে
শোণিতধারায় অমিত রঙ্গে
সকল এষণা সকল বাসনা
উৎসারিতে চাই

কে পর কে আপন বুঝি না
মানবতা মাঝে ভেদ মানি না
আলাপে আবেশে নাচে উচ্ছ্বাসে
একেরই খুঁজে’ পাই

A tender leaf am I at innermost heart;
A song of newness do I sing.
I am a blue lotus sporting with darkness,
While to the crimson dawn I keep calling.[nb 3]

Surging am I with a vigor billowing,
In bloodstream very much frolicking.[nb 4]
All exploration, all inclination,
Being thrust upward do I wish.

Who is an other, who is my own, that I don't fathom;
At the core of humanism I don't recognize distinction.
Enraptured and ecstatic in a dance full of passion,
Having sought I discover only the One.

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In respect to this word, there is discrepancy between the Sargam and the Second Bengali Edition[2]. The former shows it as áṋdhár; the latter gives ádhár. In context, the Sargam makes more sense.
  3. ^ Though the literature is not entirely accurate, figuratively speaking the blue lotus is said to sink below the surface of the water at dusk and to rise to the surface each morning at dawn.
  4. ^ This song is filled with double meanings and alternate interpretations. Yet in the end, it all comes together. So, for reference, another possible meaning for the word rauṋge could be "reddish" or "ruddy" (as opposed to "frolicking").
