Kon atiite sei kon atiite is the 780th song of Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar's Prabhat Samgiita.[1][2]

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Kon atiite sei kon atiite
Tava mana madhute
Sundara dhará tumi raciyáchile
Tava prajiṋá bodhi ohe sthitodadhi
Tárá phut́iyechilo nabhoniile

Tava manapavane tarii ujáne
Bhásiyechile kono máná ná mene
Tava cakra máyáy tava liilá dyotanáy
Randhre randhre práń bhariye dile

Atiite chile tumi varttamáne ácho
Bhaviśyater chavi eṋke calecho
Tumi sabára giiti tumi sabára priiti
Sabár madhur smrti práńe pashile

In what yesteryear, on what ancient day,
With sweet nectar from Your psyche,
Did You build this lovely world?
Oh Lord,[nb 2] Your cognition and intuition
Made a star rise in the vast blue sky.

By Your hidden will, a ship travels upstream;
You'd made it sail, heeding no warning.
In the cycle of Your maya, the manifestation of Your liila,
With the breath of life You imbued every place, big and small.

In the hoary past You were, and at present You are,
Ever You've endured, etching an image of the future.
For everybody You're the hymn and its satisfaction;
As everyone's sweet recollection, You entered our hearts.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Stithodadhi (স্থিতোদধি) is not a common name for God. Literally, it would signify an ocean-dweller, a denizen of the sea. But as this verse describes a "time" before the universe was created, the sea is clearly the ocean of consciousness. The dweller must then be Parama Purusa Himself, the Supreme Consciousness.
