Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Krpá karo prabhu krpá karo (tumi)
Ámáy ándhár gahvar theke tule dharo

Tomár rúper ei dharáke áro sájáo
Tomár chander ei máyáke áro nácáo
Ámár áṋkhi tomár áloy áro bharo

Tomár guńer bhúmámánas áro baŕáo
Tomár surer atimánas áro chaŕáo
Tomár bháve ámár hiyá vibhor karo
Kabhu ámár theke dúre náhi saro

Be gracious, Lord, be gracious;
Lift me from the dungeon of darkness.

Adorn this world more with Your beauty,
Make phenomena dance more with Your beat,
And fill my eyes more with Your radiant splendor.

Broaden collective mind more with Your virtues;
Embed causal mind more with Your tunes.[nb 2]
In Your ideation, make my mind absorbed;
Far away from me, kindly don't withdraw!

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ According to yogic psychology, the átimánas kośa (supramental sphere) is the lowest of the three layers of the causal mind. It corresponds to the maharloka on the cosmic level. In this realm, saḿskáras (reactive momenta) first manifest. This includes the earliest yearnings for sádhaná (spiritual meditation). Hence, this line is a prayer that the Lord augment the spiritual thirst of everyone.
