Ceyechilum ámi tomáke juge juge
Kata meghe d́háká dine támasii jáminii jege
Áshár atiita tiire
Ese mor man mátále

Ceyechilum kena ájo tá jáni ná
Besechilum bhálo jene tumi ajáná
Ashru upaciyá paŕe
Páoyá ná páoyár dukúle

মদির নয়নে এলে
(এ কী) মাদকতা আনিলে
সুধীর চরণ ফেলে’
উন্মাদনা জাগালে

চেয়েছিলুম আমি তোমাকে যুগে যুগে
কত মেঘে-ঢাকা দিনে তামসী যামিনী জেগে’
আশার অতীত তীরে
এসে’ মোর মন মাতালে

চেয়েছিলুম কেন আজও তা’ জানি না
বেসেছিলুম ভালো জেনে’ তুমি অজানা
অশ্রু উপচিয়া পড়ে
পাওয়া না-পাওয়ার দু’কূলে

With eyes intoxicating You appeared;
A drug so amazing You did bring.
Having set Your serene feet,
You stirred excitement keen.

From age to age I had been wanting Thee,
On many days overcast and sleepless nights gloomy.
Upon the bank of hope-transcending,
Having come, my mental state You drove into frenzy.

What's the reason I had craved, that still I don't know;
I had been waiting, knowing well that You're unknown.
Falling tears inundate,
When obtained or not obtained, on both banks.
