Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Man jadi mor bheuṋge paŕe kabhu
Tumi theko prabhu sáthe theko
Áshár pradiip jadi nive jáy
Diipshalákát́i háte rekho (tumi)

Nidáruń vidhi jadi niravadhi
Káler karál bhrukut́ite máti
Sakal suśamáy sheś karite cáy
Mor se asamay tumi dekho

Ashani jhaiṋjháy ghúrńivátyáy
Práńer sudhá jadi shuśiyá nite cáy
Se kál nisháy ná balá vedanáy
Maner mamatáy more d́eko
More d́eko prabhu more d́eko

O Lord,
if anytime my mind should break,
stay with me.

If ever the lamp of my hope be extinguished,
keep the kindling stick ready in hand.

O eternal one,
if ever unkind fate,
intoxicated with the destructive attitude of time,
desires to totally destroy my beauty,
during that bad time,
please take care of me.

When thunderous and cyclonic storms
attempt to dry up the sweetness of my life,
in that dark time of my silent pain,
call me with an affectionate mind.
