Mind and Cognitive Faculty is a discourse given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti on 1978 September 23 in Patna, India. This discourse is the fifteenth chapter of Ananda Vacanamrtam Part 2.[1]

Synopsis

Your actual "I" is that Supreme Entity whose reflections these Átmans are. That is your actual "I". And while you are closely associated with the pains and pleasures concerning these bodies, you won't feel the pleasure of being the Supreme "I". And when you will be able to dissociate yourself from the pains and pleasures in connection with these small "I"-s, then it will be the final stage of your spiritual practice. It is the supreme stance. It is the samádhi - nirvikalpa samádhi.

Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

Anandamurti starts the discourse by describing the four stages of the human mind. The fourth stage, turiiya, is the stage of complete merger with the Supreme. He then explains that Parama Purusa is reflecting itself on the mental plate of every unit mind, like a flower reflected upon many mirrors. Anandamurti goes on explaining that in the final stage of self-realization all the stages of mind get suspended in the cognitive faculty. At this stage, the spiritual aspirant realizes that the Supreme is her or his actual "I". She or he is then free from all bondage.[1]
