Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Nava varśa elo áji
Sabáre ánanda dite
Phule phale pátáy rase
Surabhite man mátáte

Járá cale geche dúre
Dúr hate áro dúre
Tárá ájo beṋce áche
Sureri sudhájhaiṋkáre
(Áji) Táder áshiiś surer srote
Prerańá dik calár pathe

Chay rtur parikramá
Meru himer ot́há námá
Ei pariveshe ese
Práń d́hele dii sabár hite

A new year came today,
Giving joy to everyone.
By fruits and flowers, leaves and sap,
It elated the mind with fragrance.

Those who have gone to a distant place,
From far to still farther,
They live on today
In the resounding nectar of melody.
Now, in the stream of melody, their blessing—
May it inspire movement on the path.

The rotation of six seasons,[nb 2]
The rise and fall of polar ice caps—
Within this ambit,
Let us dedicate our lives to the welfare of all.
