A gold lotus in a blue sea—
A gold lotus in a blue sea—
It has blossomed, but no one pays heed...
It had blossomed, but no one paid heed...
No one pays heed, no one pays heed.
No one paid heed, no one paid heed.
Its petals, the color of scarlet,
Its petals, the color of scarlet,
No one does touch, no one does touch.
No one did touch, no one did touch.

Smeared with vitality is the gold pollen,
Smeared with vitality was the gold pollen,
Glistening life, enfolding nectar.
Glistening life, enfolding nectar.
But that nectar, it is remote;
But that nectar was remote;
And so the bumblebees never approach.
So the bumblebees did not approach.

From the land of clouds, a colorful fairy
From the land of clouds, a colorful fairy
Was mesmerized by its sublime beauty.
Was mesmerized by its sublime beauty.
Clasping to her bosom the lotus of gold,
Clasping to her bosom the lotus of gold,
She flew off; and no one knows.
She flew off; and none did know.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Niilsáyare sońár kamal
Phút́echilo keu shoneni
Keu shońeni keu shońeni
Álatá ráuṋá pápaŕiguli
Keu dhareni keu dhareni

Sońár parág práńe mákhá
Jhakjhake práń madhu d́háká
Álgoche sei madhu khete
Bhramará kakhano áseni

Megher desher rauṋiin parii
Mugdha halo rúpe tári
Svarńakamal buke dhari
Uŕe gelo keu jáneni

A gold lotus in a blue sea—
It had blossomed, but no one paid heed...
No one paid heed, no one paid heed.
Its petals, the color of scarlet,
No one did touch, no one did touch.

Smeared with vitality was the gold pollen,
Glistening life, enfolding nectar.
But that nectar was remote;
So the bumblebees did not approach.

From the land of clouds, a colorful fairy
Was mesmerized by its sublime beauty.
Clasping to her bosom the lotus of gold,
She flew off; and none did know.
