Paincajanya is the 8th chapter of Shrii Shrii Anandamurti's Ananda Marga Caryacarya Part 1.[1]

Chapter summary

In this chapter Sarkar suggested at five o'clock of every morning sadhakas (spiritual aspirants) will assemble at a jagrti, and where there is no jaagrti, at a fixed convenient place, and participate in singing five minutes of Prabhat Samgiita, in performing fifteen minutes of kiirtana, and lastly in performing ten minutes of collective meditation.[1]

This practice should be done on all days of the week except on the Sundays. On Sundays, there should be singing of ten minutes of Prabhata Samgiita, performance of fifteen minutes of kiirtana, and performance of at least ten minutes of collective meditation.[1][nb 1]

This daily event of Ananda Marga will be called Paincajanya.[1]

Notes

  1. ^ According to the testimony of Acarya Abhidevananda Avadhuta, the practice of paincajanya was instituted by Anandamurti in late 1981 or early 1982. At that time there was no Prabhat Samgiita, and the instructions for performing paincajanya were more detailed and considerably different. For example, those instructions talked about using a loud-speaker system, specified that the sweetest voice would sing the bhajans (devotional songs) and lead the kiirtan, that two bhajans would be sung on Sundays and also on festival days, and that when a second bhajan is sung it must compulsorily be in the local language. When this chapter was added to Caryacarya Part 1, all of those instructions were omitted by whoever inserted the text. Hence there is some question regarding the accuracy of the instructions in this chapter of Caryacarya Part 1.
