Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Práńer srote bhásiye dilum[nb 2]
Gáner tariikháni ámár
Kúler báṋdhan railo ná ár
Dulche dodul chande apár

Picht́án nei kona áji
Jay dundubhi ot́he báji
Nirásh hrday ut́hlo sáji
Nrtye giite sure ábár

Phele ásá dinguli mor
Nece elo haye vibhor
Balle hese jácchi bhese
Bheuṋgechi bandha kárágár

Upon life's stream I set adrift
My fragmentary boat of song.
No longer remained ties to shore;
To rhythm without limit it is swaying back and forth.

There is no backward tug of attachment now;
The kettledrums of victory are ringing out...
Dejected heart, equipped was roused
By dance and hymn and melody once more.

My long-gone, former days,
Capering they arrived, become amazed...
By saying with a smile: "I am going sailing",
I have fractured a close dungeon.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Though the published Bengali source all reads chilum and not dilum, in audio renditions going back to the note-taking team we hear dilum. All things considered, it seems likely that the printed source is in error.
