Uddám halo udadhi jal
Vishuśka shákhe kali je jágilo
Vishiirńa gáuṋe námilo d́hal

Háráno hiyár málá phire elo
Háráno phuler d́álá je bharilo
Háráno gáner chande o sure
Dyuloke dulilo mana-kamal

Nútaner váńii sabái shuńilo
Nútan avanii vitáne sájilo
Nútan karmajajiṋe púrńa
Palake pulake prthviital

রুদ্র তোমার উত্তাল তালে
উদ্দাম হলো উদধি-জল
বিশুষ্ক শাখে কলি যে জাগিলো
বিশীর্ণ গাঙে নামিলো ঢল

হারানো হিয়ার মালা ফিরে এলো
হারানো ফুলের ডালা যে ভরিলো
হারানো গানের ছন্দে ও সুরে
দ্যুলোকে দুলিলো মন-কমল

নূতনের বাণী সবাই শুণিলো
নূতন অবনী বিতানে সাজিলো
নূতন কর্মযজ্ঞে পূর্ণ
পলকে পুলকে পৃথ্বীতল

Rudra,[nb 2] with your surging beat,
The waters of sea grew fierce.
On withered branch, a bud did sprout;
On dry riverbed, a flood came down.

The garland held by defeated hearts has returned;
Our wicker basket[nb 3] has filled with lost flowers.
To the rhythm and tune of songs long forgotten,
Our psychic lotus swayed the realm of heaven.

Everyone heard the message of novelty;
A new world was fitted with canopy.
Flush with fresh service to society,
Instantly, Earth's cadence was thrilling.

  2. ^ In the Vedic tradition Rudra is a storm god, often associated with Shiva. However, Sarkar's description of Rudra is generally along more Tantric lines. In Ananda Vacanamrtam, Sarkar describes Rudra as follows: In this universe the guiding entity is one; there is no scope for multiplicities. That single entity who guides and directs everything is the father, the preceptor and guru of all. "Eko hi rudrah." This Rudra is a singular entity. Rudra means "he who makes one weep"... People weep due to intense pain or pleasure, that is, when sorrow becomes unbearable or when joy becomes overwhelming. In both cases Parama Puruśa deserves our thanks. That is why He is Rudra... If we only laughed, the drama would not be so interesting, and if we only wept, the drama would not be so enjoyable. Parama Puruśa's drama is never dull or boring.[3]
