Pratham tomáre dekhiyáchi (ámi)
Kaomudii ese balechilo hese
Shudhu bhálabese páiyáchi

Rúp guń ár vidyá tomáy
Kichutei kabhu dharite ná páy
Priitir nigaŕe báṋdhá jáo paŕe
E sár satya bujhiyáchi

Jadio ámi hrta gaorav
Tabu práńe bhará tava saorabh
Sei surabhite divase nishiithe
Mańi-diip jvele rákhiyáchi

সন্ধ্যা সমীরে মনের মুকুরে
প্রথম তোমারে দেখিয়াছি (আমি)
কৌমুদী এসে' বলেছিল হেসে'
শুধু ভালবেসে পাইয়াছি

রূপ গুণ আর বিদ্যা তোমায়
কিছুতেই কভু ধরিতে না পায়
প্রীতির নিগড়ে বাঁধা যাও পড়ে'
এ সার সত্য বুঝিয়াছি

যদিও আমি হৃত গৌরব
তবু প্রাণে ভরা তব সৌরভ
সেই সুরভিতে দিবসে নিশীথে
মণি-দীপ জ্বেলে' রাখিয়াছি

Within evening breeze, in the mirror of mind,
i saw you initially.
the moonlight came and told with smile,
“i got only by love”.
it is not possible to bring you into folds
with beauty, qualities, and skills.
i have understood this essence of truth
that with the knot of love you can be tied.
even though i am devoid of glory,
my heart is full of your fragrance.
with that fragrance, day and night,
i have kept the jeweled lamp glowing.
