My companion, my abiding friend,
My companion, my abiding friend,
In which far-distant land have You been?
In what faraway land have You been?
All the embankments of my heart are burst
All my heart's embankments get breached
On seeing and loving You.
On seeing and loving You.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Sáthii ámár bandhu ámár
Chile tumi kon videshe
Ámár sakal hiyár báṋdh bheṋge jáy
Tomáy dekhe bhálabese

Tumi ácho ámi áchi
Tomár doláy nece calechi
Áj sabke phele ámár káche
Ele kena hese hese

Áj parán d́hele tomár sure
Nece cali bhese bhese

My companion, my abiding friend,
In what faraway land have You been?
All my heart's embankments get breached
On seeing and loving You.

You exist, I exist;
With Your swaying, I keep on dancing.
Today I have set aside all preoccupations,
Because You came to me smiling brightly.

Today, my life is merged in Your melody;
In the dance, I go floating, floating.
