Spelling verification

As I was rechecking spelling, I found in the PSB Bengali book, the spelling ঝর্ণাধারা (first line, first stanza) and কন্টকভরা (first line, second stanza). Please check spellings, I'll need it very soon for Bn Sarkarverse. --TitoDutta 16:37, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

  • If ঝর্ণাধারা etc. the current En title needs to be changes as well. --TitoDutta 16:38, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
The first line of the second verse/stanza is okay. কন্টকভরা and কন্টক ভরা both work. Joining the two words may be a bit more elegant, but in both the English Prabhat Samgiita book and on prabhatasamgiita.net, we see two separate words. I don't mind to change this, but I think we can leave it the way it is also. I prefer to do that.
Regarding the first line, that is a bit more complicated. If you listen to the way ঝর্ণা (or ঝরণা or ঝরনা) is sung on prabhatasamgiita.net, you will hear "ঝরণা" (or ঝরনা). The r before the n is pronounced as a distinct syllable (jharana and not jharna). Whether it should be sung that way, I don't know. On the other hand, everywhere except on prabhatasamgiita.net, the two words (ঝরণা and ধারা) are joined (typically, ঝর্ণাধারা, but ঝর্নাধারা, ঝরণাধারা, and ঝরনাধারা would probably work equally well). That's my take on this as someone who is not a native Bengali speaker or any kind of an authority on the subject.
What I propose is to leave the title of the song as it is and also the script of the song (both Roman and Bangala) as it is. After all, this is the English version of Sarkarverse, and the main purpose for these two scripts is to assist in learning the song (including how to sing it) as well as future scholarship on the subject. (Please keep in mind that Baba did not give these songs in writing. He dictated them with the melody. The actual spelling or construction of the words and the grammar is largely the creation of those who transcribed the dictation, similar to what we find with all of his discourses.) However, it might be helpful to have a redirect to this song under the title "E gan amar alor jharnadhara", although even that might be superfluous as we already have a redirect from "E gan amar alor jharna dhara". What do you think? --Abhidevananda (talk) 23:32, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
