Ucchala saritániire unmada saritániire
Tomáke peyechi jhaŕera ráte
Nishchidra áṋdháre nirvilva áṋdháre

Tomáke d́ákini kabhu sukhe
D́ekechi vipade duhkhe
Ceyechi tomáy vyathábhará mukhe
Bukbháuṋgá ashrudháre

Sonálii jiivan mor brthá cale jáy
Tumi náhi ásile háy
Svapna kusum viśáde múracháy
Kúl bháuṋgá nadiikináre

তোমাকে দেখেছি মনের মুকুরে
উচ্ছল সরিতানীরে উন্মদ সরিতানীরে
তোমাকে পেয়েছি ঝড়ের রাতে
নিশ্ছিদ্র আঁধারে নিরবিল্ব আঁধারে

তোমাকে ডাকিনি কভু সুখে
ডেকেছি বিপদে দুঃখে
চেয়েছি তোমায় ব্যথাভরা মুখে
বুকভাঙ্গা অশ্রুধারে

সোণালী জীবন মোর বৃথা চলে যায়
তুমি নাহি আসিলে হায়
স্বপ্ন-কুসুম বিষাদে মূরছায়
কূল-ভাঙ্গা নদীকিনারে

I've seen You in a mirror of the mind,
In frenzied waters of my river-tide.
I've sensed You on a stormy night,
In the absolute absence of light.

I never summon You when I'm happy;
I've but called in grief or calamity.
I've implored You with pain-filled mien,
With aching heart and tears streaming.

My golden life goes by in vain;
For, alas, You never came.
With grief, my dream-bloom fades
On an abraded riverbank.
