Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomár ámár ei paricay
Du ek juger nay
Bhule tháká bhule ná tháká
Bhule jáoyá nay

Púrvaráge púrvákáshe
Tumi jakhan áso hese
Tomár dyuti marmagiiti
Práńer priiti je se
(Ámi) Kán pete rai cokh ceye rai
Tomár bháve unmaná hai
Ánmane hay tomáy ámáy
Hiyár vinimay

Citta jabe hay udvel
Áse ghátághateri shel
Nirudvege drpta hrday
Gáy tomári jay
Sab háránor duhkha bhule
Sab páoyátei ray

O lord,
our mutual introduction
took place only one or two ages ago.
Remaining oblivious
and forgetting forever
are not the same thing.

In the eastern sky,
in the crimson hue
when, with a smile, you appear,
Your effulgence awakens unbound love
in the core of my heart.

With attentive ears and anxious eyes
I become absorbed in your ideation.
In that absorbed state,
I exchange my heart with yours.

When my mind stuff is restless,
it feels both pain and pleasure,
and my calm and illuminated heart
sings of your victory.
