Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomár carańdhvanir áshe
Kán pete base áchi
Tomár madhur suvásete
Mádakatáy metechi

Tomár miśt́i hási more
Báṋdhbháuṋgá udvel je kare
Tomár chande gáne ámi
Kánáy kánáy bharechi

Tomár mohan báṋshiir táne[nb 2]
Man chot́e vishvavitáne
Bhávi shudhu mane mane
Priitite hár menechi

Hoping for sound of Your footsteps,
I am waiting, my ear to the ground.
On Your pleasant fragrance,
With its heady power, I've been overwhelmed.

Your honeyed smile upon me,
It breaks the dam of swollen emotion.
With Your rhythm and Your song am I...
I've been filled, right up to the brim.

Drawn by Your magic flute's melody,
Mind races to the cosmic pavilion.
Inwardly, I think only:
To love, defeat I've conceded.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ Though all sources indicate tán (notes, melody), a greater sense may come from t́án (pull, attraction). This translation takes both possibilities into account.
