Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tomár námer bheláy
Bhásiye dilum práń
Cái ná kichu tomár káche
Cáoyá je marań samán

Tomár rúpe tomár ráge
Tomár madhur anuráge
Tomár tále tál miliye
Gáiba tomár gán

Tandrá bhará alas cokhe
Jiṋánáiṋjana dile eṋke
Se aiṋjaner ávesh mekhe
Karbo muktisnán

Tomár chande tomár táne
Tomár bhálabásár t́áne
Tomár sure hrdaypure
Á́már abhiján

On the raft of Your name,
My life I've set adrift.
Nothing would I ask from Thee;
Wanting is like decease.

In Your form, in Your color,
In Your sweet affection,
Having wed my cadence to Your beat,
Your song I will sing.

Upon idle and lethargic eyes,
The salve of knowledge You applied.
Being smeared with that balm,
I'll perform the muktisnán.[nb 2]

In Your rhythm, in Your tune,
In Your love's allure,
Heart filled with Your melody,
That is my odyssey.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ In the Hindu tradition, muktisnán (literally, "liberation bath") is a purifying or renewing ceremonial ablution, carried out at the conclusion of an eclipse. In this song, the concept is metaphorical, suggesting a rite of passage from a dark period to brighter times.
