Bárek tákiyechile áṋkhipallava tule

Áj tumi kata dúre ámi tamahgahvare
Úrdhve tuliyá náo akúl haite kúle

Áloi satya jáni áṋdháre ná d́ari máni
Álor utsa tumi rákho shriicarańamúle

তোমার বেদীর তলে বসেছিনু দীপ জ্বেলে’
সেই অমানিশা কালে
সে কথা কি গেছ ভুলে’
ক্ষুদ্র প্রদীপে মম খদ্যোতদ্যুতি সম
বারেক তাকিয়েছিলে আঁখিপল্লব তুলে’

আজ তুমি কত দূরে আমি তমঃগহ্বরে
ঊর্ধ্বে তুলিয়া নাও অকূল হইতে কূলে

আলোই সত্য জানি আঁধারে না ডরি মানি
আলোর উৎস তুমি রাখো শ্রীচরণমূলে

O lord,
I sat at the base of your altar,
with a kindled lamp
at that time of darkness.
Have you forgotten?

The light from my lamp
was like the light of a firefly.
You glimpsed at me,
lifting your eyelids.

Today, how far are you from me?
I find myself in the depth of darkness.
Lift me up from shelterlessness onto your shelter.

I know effulgence as truth without fearing darkness.
O origin of effulgence,
keep me at the base of your holy feet.
