Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi ámár bhálo ceyechile
Vinimaye kichu cáo ni
Supathe calite balechile
Kona arghya tuliyá náo ni

Tamasá sabhay sharvariite
Diip háte calechile sáthe sáthe
Path dekháyecho vedaná sahecho
Naevedya choṋo ni

Jhaŕ jhaiṋjháy ashani nipáte
Rekhechile vat́avrkśa cháyáte
Sab jal jhaŕ mátháy bahecho
Ámáre bahite dáo ni

O lord,
You loved me,
without expecting anything in exchange.

You told me to follow the proper path,
but did not take any offering from me.

In all circumstances of darkness and fear,
You accompanied me on the path with a lamp in hand.
You showed me the path,
and removed my afflictions,
without ever touching the gift that was given to you.
During storms and the fall of meteorites,
You kept me shaded under the banyan tree.

In spite of all rain and storm descending on my head,
You protected me from being washed away.
