O lord,
You are the mountain, I am a stone's particle;
You are a mountain
I exist underneath Your shelter.
and i am a meagre pebble of a stone.
Along the two sides of Your river,
I take refuge under your shelter.
Lying in a bed of sand, I have lived on.

On both banks of the river,
Please tell me, when will You appear?
I remain sleeping on the sand.
My desire unrequited, will it be fulfilled?
Abed and dreaming, awake or asleep,
Your thoughts, I have gone on contemplating.

Tell me when you shall come
Golden twilight far removes itself;
and fulfil my unfulfilled desire.
The dark-of-night's shadow thickens.

Oh Nightlord, please make haste and come–
In lying, in dream, in sleep
A living being breaks down in terror.
and in my awakened state - always -
I am but Your moonlight's tiny speck;
I keep ideating on you.
I dance on the current of Your kindness.

The golden evening goes far away.
The darkness of night intensifies.

O the lord of the night, come quickly.
Living beings are breaking down due to terror.

I am a particle of your effulgence,
dancing in the flow of your mercy.

Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Tumi parvat ámi upalakańá
Tava áshraye ámi áchi
Tava saritár dui pásh dhare
Bálukáshayane raye gechi (ámi)

Bale dáo more kakhan ásibe
Atrpta vásaná púráibe
Shayane svapane nide jágarańe
Tava bhávaná bheve calechi (ámi)

Svarńagodhúli dúre sare jáy
Rátrir kálo cháyá je ghanáy
Sharvariipati eso tvará kare
Jiiv átauṋke bheuṋge paŕe
Tava jyotsnár kańiká je ámi
Tava karuńádháráte náci

You are the mountain, I am a stone's particle;
I exist underneath Your shelter.
Along the two sides of Your river,
Lying in a bed of sand, I have lived on.

Please tell me, when will You appear?
My desire unrequited, will it be fulfilled?
Abed and dreaming, awake or asleep,
Your thoughts, I have gone on contemplating.

Golden twilight far removes itself;
The dark-of-night's shadow thickens.
Oh Nightlord, please make haste and come–
A living being breaks down in terror.
I am but Your moonlight's tiny speck;
I dance on the current of Your kindness.
