Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

(Tumi) Phire eso tumi phire eso
Phágun pháge man ráuṋiye
Chande ráge náciye diye
Maner gopál anuráge
Ábár phire eso

Manke shuci karechi áj tomár náme gáne
Manke sájiyechi ámi shiiter raktáruńe
Maner gopál maner końe miśt́imadhur heso

Neiko kichu ámár káche sab kichu to tomár áche
Tomár jinis tomáy dilum nayko ámár lesho
Maner gopál jugántarer hási niye eso

You please come back, oh please come back.
With spring colors[nb 2] that have painted psyche,
Made it dance to Your meter and melody,
Oh my Gopal[nb 3] of mind, lovingly,
Once again please come back.

Today the mind I've purified with Your name and song;
The mind I've embellished with winter's crimson dawn.
Gopal of mind, laugh honey-sweetly at mind's interior.

Not a thing do I own; everything is Yours indeed...
So Your things I gave to Thee, not a trace is with me.
Mind's Gopal everlasting, with a smile please appear.

Notes

  1. ^ For details on the notation, see Roman Bengali transliteration.
  2. ^ This line refers to the month of Phalgun, when spring is ushered in with the festival variably called Holi, Dolyatra, or Vasantotsava. In this festival, people play with colors, notably a red dye known as abir or phag.
  3. ^ Literally, Gopal means cowherd. But in context it is a nickname for Krsna while growing up in Vrndavan.
