Lyrics

Roman script[nb 1] Bengali script Translation

Varśańasikta e sandhyáy
Ketakii parág jale bhese jáy
Meghe d́háká cáṋd tabu dekhe mane hay
Akátare se sudhá varaśáy

Áṋdhár kuláye mayúr káṋde
Dekhite ná peye jyotsnár cáṋde
Ashani garje túrja náde
Dádur d́ákiyá jáy ajáná bháśay

Sudúr mahákásh hátcháni dey
Siimár gańd́ii bheuṋge dite se shekháy
Sabe bhule man ek-kei pete cáy
Theke jáy shudhu tári bhávanáy

On this rain wet evening,
the fragrance of ketakii (screw pine) flower
goes on floating in the water.
the moon was covered with clouds
still while observing
it appears that it rains
nectar on the afflicted ones.
in the dark nest, the peacock cries,
as it could not see the shining moon.
like lightning thunderous roar of the trumpet,
the toads go on croaking
calling in unknown language.
the distant great sky calls with hand signals,
and teaches to break the boundary of limitation.
forgetting all, the mind wants to get only one
and remains absorbed in only one’s ideation.
