"Be a Ship to Us, Lord" is a discourse on the importance of surrender given by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in Patna, India. In this discourse, Anandamurti describes the process of surrender through the proper use of the mantra.[1]
Synopsis
Namah means to accept the supremacy or sovereignty of another entity. This acceptance of supremacy is called namah. You are to surrender. You are to recognize supremacy. Whose supremacy? The Supremacy of that Supreme Entity. Who is the Supreme Entity? Sáksiibhútaḿ – Supremacy belongs to the One who is the Supreme Witnessing Entity of the entire universe. He witnesses everything. You should surrender. You should do namah to Him.[1]
In this discourse, Anandamurti begins by describing the minds inability to remain without an object and ends with the importance of taking shelter in the Lord. Anandamurti states that the universe is in constant motion with only one witnessing entity that is Supreme. Anandamurti emphasizes the supremacy of this witnessing entity in that it requires no dependence on any second entity. By surrendering the mind, to the Supreme through the use of japa of the Ista mantra, one can safely move through this ever changing universe to arrive at the final destination, Parama Puruśa.[1]
